I did some research and was able to fabricate both a Static Compactor and a Handheld Scanner. Arrakis welcomed my efforts — all it takes to unearth buried treasure out here is scanning the open sands to locate it, and then using a Static Compactor to expose it. As for timing, it seems the best opportunities reveal themselves in the aftermath and clean slate of a sandstorm...
